*IDBI Bank appointed Hemant Bhargava as non-executive, non-whole-time chairman. Bhargava is currently the CMD of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). The life insurer is now the majority shareholder in IDBI Bank with a 51% stake


3.Delhi Declaration' on Digital Health

*As part of the 4th Global Digital Health Partnership Summit in New Delhi, the ministers and delegation adopted the Delhi Declaration on Digital Health for sustainable development, which called for WHO's leadership in digital health

5.Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile successfully tested

*India successfully test fired the short-range Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) from a test range along the coast of Odisha. Developed by DRDO, the missile has a strike range of 25-30 km and has a capability of engaging multiple targets


6.World NGO Day 2019

*World NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) Day is an international calendar day annually observed on the 27th of February. The United Nations along with EU leaders and international organizations officially recognized it in 2014


7.Andhra coast: New energy Source discovered

*Methane hydrate, a potential fuel of the future was discovered in the Krishna-Godavari basin off the coast of Andhra Pradesh in Bay of Bengal.
*The discovery was reported by scientists from the National Institute of Oceanography in Goa and the National Geophysical Research Institute in Hyderabad.
*Methane hydrate is a solid crystal structure of water which traps a large amount of methane gas.


8.15,000 acres forest under fire in Bandipur 

*A fire has ravaged Bandipur, Karnataka, which burnt over 15,000 acres of forest. Bandipur National Park is a 874-sq.-km forested reserve in the Karnataka.
*lt is known for its small population of tigers.
*The 14th-century Himavad Gopalaswamy Temple offers views from the park's highest peak.


9.Indore and Bhopal won Saubhagya award

*The Central Zone Power Distribution Company, Bhopal and West Zone Power Distribution Company, Indore were awarded the Saubhagya award on 26 February 2019.
*lt was presented under Pradhanmantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana at the National Conference of Energy Ministers

10. 10% quota for weaker sections in Bihar

*Bihar government issued a notification to provide 10% quota for weaker sections in general category in jobs and educational institutions.
*The reservation is meant for individuals whose annual earning is below 8 lakh rupees and who possess less than 5 acres of agriculture land.
*Quota allocation for weaker sections in general category would help in providing more employment.


11.Assam launched PRANAM Commission

*Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal launched the 'Parents Respon- sibility and Norms for Accountability and Monitoring (PRANAM) Commission in Guwahati on February 26, 2019.
*lt is a panel set up to look after the issues concerning a Bill, for protection of parents of state government employees.
*It is an effort to protect elderly parents of government employees in their times of need.


12.Benchmarks for training In Yoga began

*Ministry of AYUSH and World Health Organisation (WHO) jointly organised a 3-day conclave for reviewing the WHO document Benchmarks for Training in Yoga.
WHO is developing the yoga document as part of its global strategy.
*It will be used in evaluating Yoga therapy and identifying trends in utilization.


13.Web Portal launched in Kolkata

*West Bengal Education Minister, Partha Chatterjee inaugurated a web portal, 'Banglar Shiksha.
*The portal will proide real-time data on state-run and aided schools.
*It will be up and running in two months and is probably the first-of-its-kind online initiative in the state as well as in the Country


14.IWAI and Indian Oil signed MoU

*Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) and Indian Oil Corporation (10CL) signed a MoU on 26 February 2019.
*it was signed for jointly developing infrastructure for fuels, lubricating oil, LPG, Natural Gas and any other related fuel and gas for meeting the requirement of National Waterways.
*IWAl and IOCL have also agreed to conduct techno-economic feasibility studies,


15.Delhi Declaration on di tal health adopted 

*The Delhi Declaration on digital health was adopted at the concluding session of the '4th Global Digital Health Partnership Summit.
*The summit was hosted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and WHO.
*The declaration will engage citizens in partnering with the government for planning and management of digital health interventions in health services delivery and improving governance.


16. 3 banks out of RBIs weak-bank watch

*The RBI lifted lending curbs from Allahabad Bank and Corporation Bank and removed them from its weak-bank watch list after the government infused capital in them.
*Private sector Dhanlaxmi Bank too has been taken out of the Prompt Corrective Action Framework.
*Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra and Oriental Bank of Commerce were also taken out of the PCA Framework, earlier on 31 January 2019.

*Justice (Retd) P S Teji was appointed as the chairman of the Police Complaints Authority on 26 February 2019.
*The National Book Trust (NBT) has appointed educationist and author Govind Prasad Sharma as its new Chairman.


18.Odisha signed MoU with Nabkisan

*Odisha government signed an MoU with Nabkisan Ltd for access to collateral free loan facilities on 26 February 2019.
*The MoU encompasses the creation of a Rs 10 crore Credit Guarantee Fund by Odisha government.
*Loans given by Public Sector Banks and Nabkisan to the Farmer's Producer Organisations (FPOs) will be guaranteed under the Credit Guarantee Fund, as per the MoU.

*The Conference of Power and Renewable Energy Ministers of States and UTs was inaugurated at Gurugram on 26 February 2019.

*The meeting of 20th India-ltaly Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation (JCEC) began in New Delhi on 26 February 2019.
*The JCEC is an institutional mechanism for bilateral trade engagement held at the leyel of Minister of Commerce and Industry of the two countries
*The 19th Session of India-ltaly JCEC was held in Rome on 11th -12th May 2017.


22.India-Bangladesh Joint Exercise to be held

*A joint military exercise, Sampriti-2 will be conducted between India and Bangladesh at Tangail, Bangladesh from 2 March to 15 March 2019,
*This will be the eighth edition of the exercise which is hosted alternately by both countries.
*The exercise is aimed to strengthen and broaden the aspects of interoperability and cooperation between both the Armies


23.Sanath Jayasuriya banned from cricket for two years

* The 49-year-old former cricketer admitted failing to co-operate with an investigation and concealing, tampering with or destroying evidence.
* The cricketer was charged in October 2018. The charge came after a year-long investigation in Sri Lanka, where the ACU said corruption had become an inherent part of the system.
*Jayasuriya was charged after he failed to provide a phone and SIM card for the investigation after being requested by ACU.
*The statement from the ICC read that the conviction is the latest part of a much broader ICC investigation into corruption in cricket in Sri Lanka.
* It demonstrates the importance of participants in cricket, cooperating with investigations.
* The ICC had recently held an amnesty in relation to Sri Lankan Cricket resulting in eleven players and other participants coming forward with new information.
* This information has reportedly assisted in a number of ACU’s ongoing investigations and has resulted in some new investigations getting underway.
