1.India, Sri Lanka ink MoU to establish business centre for ICT incubators in Jaffna
*India & Sri Lanka signed an MoU to establish a centre for ICT incubators in Jaffna via a grant of 25 Cr Sri Lankan rupees from India. The centre would provide chances to enable an environment for ICT & services in the Northern region inhabited by minority Tamils


2.MobiKwik offers instant life insurance for Rs 20 on its app
*MobiKwik has announced the launch of digital life insurance on its app to its users. Mobikwik partnered with ICICI Prudential to roll out first the group microinsurance product. It offers a Life cover of 1 Lakh for a monthly premium as low as  ₹20.

3.EPFO Board recommends interest rate of 8.65% for FY19
*Employees' Provident Fund Organisation suggested an interest rate of 8.65% for FY19. The Central Board of Trustees headed by Labour Minister is the apex decision-m body of EPFO that finalizes the interest rate on PF deposits for the financial year.


4.Uttar Pradesh launches Schenme for Adolescent girls

*Uttar Pradesh launched a Scheme for Adolescent Girls. It focuses on girls aged between 11 to 14 years who have left studies &will take steps for proper nutrition & special care for them. UP govt decided to observe Adolescent girls day on 8th of every month.


5.Odisha to implement PM-KISAN
*The Odisha government has agreed to implement the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN). The Centre is expected to formally launch the PM-KISAN scheme at a farmers' conclave in Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh on February 24.


6.Australian mammal becomes first to go extinct due to climate change

*A small brown rat which lived on an island off northern Australia is the world's 1st mammal known to have become extinct due to human-induced climate change. Acc. to the University of Queensland report in 2016, the mammal had not been seen for almost 10 yrs.


7.SC appoints former judge Justice DK Jain as ombudsman for BCCI
*The Supreme Court has appointed Justice DK Jain as the first court-appointed ombudsman for the BCCI. The role of the ombudsman would be to resolve the disputes relating to the players within the state cricket associations and also financial issues.

*PM Modi launched India Korea start-up hub in Seoul. It is a one-stop platform to bring Indian &Korean start-up ecosystems closer & to facilitate joint innovation b/w the 2 economies. It was abstracted as part of a joint statement b/w KOTRA & Invest India.


9.ATL Drone Module released
*The 'ATL Drone module: Get, Set, Go' for Atal Tinkering Labs was launched at the ongoing Aero India 2019 in Bengaluru.
*it was launched by NITI Aayog's Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and Drona Aviation, an IIT Bombay start
With the ATL Drone Module, young students of India will learn how to create their own drones and use them for solving community problems in India.


10.BEL Unveiled its newproduct

*Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) unveiled its new product, the Atmospheric Water Generator (AWG) at Aero India 2019 on 21 Feb 2019.
*It was inaugurated by the Chief of the Army Staff General Bipin Rawat.
 *The AWG can be used to generate water straight from the humidity present in the atmosphere.
*It is configurable in static and mobile (vehicular) versions.


11.President promulgated 4 Ordinances
*President Ram Nath Kovind promulgated 4 Ordinances on 21 Feb 2019,
*The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Second Ordinance is one of those, declares the practice of instant triple talaq to be void and illegal.

.It will also make the offence punishable with imprisonment up to three years andfine.

*Ministry of Home Affairs commissioned the Bureau of Police Research and Development to conduct a pan-India survey called, All India Citizens Survey of Police Services.
*The survey will be conducted through the National Council of Applied Economic Research. New Delhi
*The 9-month survey will cover a representative sample of 1.2 lakh households spread over 173 districts across the country




14.Lt Gen Ravi: 3rd member of COA

*The Supreme Court appointed Lieutenant General Ravi Thodge as the 3rd member of the Committee of Administrators (CoA) for BCCI.
*In 2017,the apex court had appointed a 4-member CoA, headed by former Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) Vinod Rai.
*The other 3 members of the CoA were former Indian women cricket captain Diana Edulji, Ramachandra Guha and Vikram Limaye.


15.Uma Nath Singh Lokayukta of Nagaland
*Justice Uma Nath Singh took oath as the First Lokayukta of Nagaland on February 22, 2019.
*Governor PB Acharya administered the oath of office to Justice Singh at a ceremony at Raj Bhavan in Kohima.
*He is a former Chief Justice of Megha- laya High Court and will hold the office of the Lokayukta of Nagaland for a term of 5 years or till he attains the age of 70.


*16.PM Modi recieved Seoul Peace Prize 2018

**PM Narendra Modi received the presti-gious Seoul Peace Prize for 2018 for his contribution to international cooperation and fostering global economic growth.
*The award was presented to him by the Seoul Peace Prize Foundation at a grand ceremony.
*A short film on the life and achievements of Prime Minister Modi was also screened at the event.
*He is the 14th recipient of the award.


17.Iran announced 3-d Navy Drill

*lran launched a 3-day annual navy drill, Velayat 97, in a vast area of the Gulf and the Indian Ocean on 22 Feb 2019,
*The drill will be held in the waters of Strait of Hormuz, Makran coast, Oman Sea and the north of the Indian Ocean.
*It aims to evaluate the navy's equipment, practice launching weapons and enable the troops to gain readiness for a real battle.


18.World's largest bee rediscovered in Indonesia

*The world's largest bee, Flying Bulldog, was rediscovered in a remote part of Indonesia in its first sighting in nearly 40 years on 21 February 2019.
*It was discovered in the 19th century by British naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace and nicknamed the flying bulldog.
*The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species has listed the bee as vulnerable.


19.China unveiled first female Al news anchor 

*China's state-run news agency, Xinhua, unveiled the world's first female Al news anchor to read alongside its male Al news presenters on Feb 21, 2019.
*It was developed jointly by Xinhua and search engine company Sogou and was shown off in a video on social media.
*lt is remarkably lifelike, complete with hand adjustments while on camera, and just enough on-cue blinking.


20.India decides to stop its share of river waters which flow into Pakistan

*The government has decided to stop the share of river waters which flow into Pakistan. India will divert water from Eastern rivers namely the Beas, the Ravi and the Sutlej and supply it to the people in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.
